The death toll in Nepal has crossed 1,000 after torrential monsoon rains triggered catastrophic flash floods and landslides across the country. Entire communities have been submerged, with severe destruction concentrated in low-lying districts and mountainous valleys where rivers overflowed their banks.
Search and rescue operations remain underway as emergency crews navigate thick mud, debris, and collapsed infrastructure in search of hundreds who remain missing. With roads severed and key bridge connections destroyed, authorities have begun conducting temporary mass burials for unidentified bodies as health officials raise urgent concerns over waterborne diseases and limited medical supplies in affected regions.
