Fan Sues New York Yankees for $10 Million After Being Hit by Loose Bat

A healthcare executive has filed a $10 million federal lawsuit against the New York Yankees after being struck in the head by a flying baseball bat during a game at Yankee Stadium.

According to the lawsuit, 37-year-old Stephanie Duluc was sitting in a luxury section behind home plate during a June 2 game against the Cleveland Guardians. The incident occurred when Guardians star Jose Ramirez lost control of his bat, which traveled through a gap over the protective safety netting and struck Duluc, knocking her out of her seat.

Duluc alleges the impact caused severe traumatic brain injury, concussions, light sensitivity, and cognitive impairment that have left her unable to return to work. The lawsuit claims the team failed to provide adequate protective netting in that section of the stadium, while legal experts note the case could test the longstanding “Baseball Rule,” which traditionally shields teams from liability for spectator injuries caused by errant balls and bats.
