A fifteen-year-old boy is in juvenile custody following a mass shooting at the Bite of Seattle food festival that left three people dead and four others wounded, including a toddler.

Authorities say gunfire erupted around six o’clock on Sunday evening near the Seattle Center grounds when two individuals began firing at each other amidst dense crowds. Police officers patrolling the event arrested the fifteen-year-old suspect at the scene for investigation of firearms violations and first-degree assault. Officers recovered two weapons, but a second shooter managed to flee into the crowd and remains at large.

The victims killed in the crossfire were identified as two men, aged nineteen and forty-four, and a fifty-six-year-old woman. Four additional victims—including a two-year-old boy—were hospitalized with gunshot wounds. Hospital officials confirmed the toddler remains in satisfactory condition, while the three adult survivors have been discharged.

The sudden shootout sparked mass panic across the festival, sending crowds fleeing into neighboring venues including the Space Needle lobby and the Seattle Children’s Museum. Local and federal law enforcement agencies are continuing to sweep the area and analyze evidence to identify and locate the second outstanding suspect.
