Search and rescue operations are underway in the Grand Canyon after a massive flash flood left at least one person dead and fourteen others missing or unaccounted for.

Park officials confirmed that emergency crews recovered the body of a 46-year-old man in the Colorado River following heavy weekend downpours along Bright Angel Creek. Torrential runoff destroyed critical footbridges, swept debris through narrow side canyons, and severely damaged the park’s primary water pipeline.

More than 60 people have been safely evacuated from the inner canyon, but emergency teams continue air and ground sweeps to locate missing hikers and campers. Affected trails, campgrounds, and river stretches remain closed while rescue operations continue.
