Country music legend, cultural icon, and philanthropist Dolly Parton has been laid to rest in a private burial service in Nashville, surrounded by her closest family and friends.
The small ceremony took place at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, where Parton was interred alongside her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, who passed away in March 2025. In accordance with the 80-year-old singer’s final wishes following her passing on August 25 after a brief battle with cancer, the service was kept strictly private for immediate loved ones.
Family members shared emotional tributes online following the service. Parton’s niece, Lainey Mae Parton, reflected on her aunt’s grounding presence, recalling how she always encouraged her family’s dreams regardless of her global stardom. Meanwhile, public tributes have continued across Nashville and around the globe, including a special dedicated broadcast from the Grand Ole Opry over the weekend honoring Parton’s extraordinary lifetime of music and philanthropy.
